Races of The Planet Mesdos

Basic

There are eight base sentient humanoid species in the world of Mesdos, wherein the Hanjian Empire can be found. Within these, there are multiple races, and 'strains', of creatures. They do, however, share certain basic racial profiles and bonuses. Please note the following!
The explanations of physical structure given are only the 'flavor text' of the Bonuses and Penalties, they are not cumulative.

Felkan

The most numerous of the species in Hanjia are the Felkan. Nearly all forms of Felkan have pronounced, pointed ears and a tail that helps with balance, but is not prehensile. They are quite agile due to this, and have good reflexes. They are relatively in tune with the spirit energies that flow through their own bodies, and are graceful and calculated in their movements. Their physical build, on the other hand, is lithe by nature, normally, and due to this, Felkans can on average heft the least weight of all the races. Like all such things, this can be relatively easily overcome through training. The lion-like Tarath race, despite their generally feline external characteristics, are not classified as Felkans.

Race Bonuses and Penalties: STR -2, RES +0, FCS +1, RSN +1, PCN +1, RFL +2, DSP +0, DEX -1.
Normally found: Nearly everywhere, common and adaptive people.

Human

Nearly every area in Hanjia also has a relatively high population of Humans. Humans normally have no tails, save for one primate species which makes little use of theirs regardless. Humans have very hardy bodies compared to all other species, and are excellent guards and soldiers. They also are a bit stronger than quite a few of the other species, but they are not generally considered agile or graceful, and their bodies need training for such flexibility and reflexes. On the other hand, their minds are more calculative than instinctive, and they are slightly adept at the control of external manifestations of the world's latent energies. They are known primarily for their serious natures, compared to the other species, and often work together to achieve difficult tasks. The Imperial bloodline is mostly human.

Race Bonuses and Penalties: STR +1, RES +2, FCS +0, RSN -2, PCN +1, RFL -2, DSP +1, DEX +1.
Normally found: Nearly everywhere, but a bit less so in forested areas.

Lycan

Amongst the strongest species in the world are the Lycans, powerfully built canine-like humanoids. Their bodies are naturally able to lift and carry heavier loads than any other people of similar build. Though their bodies are not the hardiest in terms of resisting damage, they are still fairly tough people. Their packs seldom spend much time engaging in mental disciplines, as their bodies do not seem suited, quite as much as other species, for internal spirit flows, and they are not known for their grace in movement, but rather in power. Their reflexes, and their ability to resist energy flows outside their own bodies, are of slight note, since their hearing and other senses are slightly better than some of the other races. The Tarath race, despite externally appearing lion-like, are considered Lycans.

Race Bonuses and Penalties: STR +2, RES +1, FCS -2, RSN -1, PCN +0, RFL +1, DSP +1, DEX +0.
Normally found: Nearly everywhere, less often near waterways, more often near forested areas or harsher conditions.

Elvan

The graceful Elvan of this world are a slightly rarer people than those previously mentioned. Their bodies resemble those of humans, though they are usually markedly more graceful and less sturdy. They are the race most known for seeming 'average', though their bodies actually have an interesting extra level of 'twitch muscles', allowing them to affect their own movements for sharp, rapid, controlled movement. Though their senses do not allow for particularly good aim or reflexes, their grace and physical control, especially with the use of their weapons, gives most Elvan the stereotype of being elegant, controlled and skilful people. Still, upon closer inspection by most, it becomes relatively clear that aside from that physical advantage, and slightly less hardy bodies than most, not much stands out about the Elvan.

Race Bonuses and Penalties: STR +0, RES -1, FCS +0, RSN +1, PCN +0, RFL +0, DSP +0, DEX +2.
Normally found: Nearly everywhere, but different sub races tend to be found in generally different places.

Drakan

Some Drakan have leathery wings, some have feathery wings, and most have no wings at all. Nearly all have tapered, reptilian tails, and they all have either feathers or scales, or, very rarely, a combination of the two. The Lysvrr subrace have no legs at all, simply long scaly snakelike lower bodies, but these are also Drakan. They are lightly built people, and are not known for marked physical strength, though their scales/feathers offer them some protection from physical blows. They often have control over the spirit flows within, slightly moreso than some of the other species. Their eyesight, and therefore aim, is markedly better than most, and their reflexes are fairly good also. However, their wild nature makes particularly skilful minute movements or weapon use more difficult for them.

Race Bonuses and Penalties: STR -0, RES +1, FCS +1, RSN +0, PCN +2, RFL +1, DSP -1, DEX -2.
Normally found: Mountainous or seaside areas moreso than other areas or flatlands. Not often in larger cities.

Siren

The Sirens of this world are what we would know as Merfolk. They are usually considered to be 'fish people' due to their bodies being able to respire anaerobically for longer than most. Their special lungs also help them to hold notes longer and exert more control when singing, something they are well known for. They are graceful people, and their muscle structure helps them carry weight, but their reflexes and aim are not as good as other species, as their sight and hearing are not as developed as most of the other species. Their special senses are more attuned to energy flows, both internal and external. Most of these peoples have slightly webbed hands and feet, and constantly hydrated skin, but only a few have what we would know as the 'mermaid tail'. When on land, that subspecies often either uses a powerful morphing essence, or moves similarly to a Lysvrr.

Race Bonuses and Penalties: STR +1, RES +0, FCS +1, RSN +2, PCN -2, RFL -1, DSP +1, DEX +0.
Normally found: Near waterways or in moist areas or flatlands, not often in arid or mountainous areas.

Daemon

Daemons are a very varied species, with more subraces than perhaps any other. Surprisingly, nearly all the subspecies share particular traits. They have relatively stronger and hardier bodies than their physical build usually implies, and an innate control over the energy flows within, often to the point of ignoring the external flows, which they are generally not attuned to. Their eyesight is slightly less developed than other species, so they generally do not have quite as good an aim as most, but their musculature, like that of the Elvaan, leads to them generally not missing the mark if they have perfectly discerned their target in some way. Succubi and incubi, 'imps', and a host of other beings fall under this classification of species.

Race Bonuses and Penalties: STR +1, RES +1, FCS +2, RSN +0, PCN -1, RFL +0, DSP -2, DEX +1.
Normally found: Nearly everywhere, but different subspecies are easier to find in different areas.

Fae

The Fae are lightly built people, usually with fair complexions and light hair. Some have shimmery, easily damaged wings, but do not usually have the ability to take flight using their wings alone. Their light skeletal structure limits their ability to carry heavier loads, despite their relatively normal musculature. It also makes them more susceptible to physical strikes and damage. Somehow, there is also an effect on their ability to channel spirit energy internally. The abilities of Fae are largely in their superior senses. They are graceful people with good eyesight, hearing, muscle reaction, and awareness of energy flows around their bodies, particularly this. Though Fae themselves vary quite a bit, there are not any particularly distinguishable subraces, and pale humans or daemons can sometimes be mistaken for Fae, and vice versa.

Race Bonuses and Penalties: STR -1, RES -2, FCS -1, RSN +1, PCN +1, RFL +1, DSP +2, DEX +1.
Normally found: More or less everywhere, but intermingle mostly with Humans and Elvan in communities.
